These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Shift & Paws website and platform. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About Shift & Paws

Shift & Paws is a membership-based online platform that facilitates introductions between independent veterinary clinics and veterinary professionals seeking short-term shift work.

Shift & Paws:

  • is not a recruitment agency

  • is not a labour hire provider

  • is not an employer

  • does not place, supply or manage staff

Shift & Paws provides a technology platform only.

2. Platform Role & No Employment Relationship

Shift & Paws does not:

  • employ veterinary professionals

  • engage professionals on behalf of clinics

  • supervise, direct or control work performed

  • negotiate rates, terms or conditions of work

Any engagement, work arrangement or agreement entered into as a result of using the platform is strictly between the clinic and the professional.

No employment, contractor, agency or partnership relationship is created between Shift & Paws and any user.

3. Memberships, Fees & Minimum Term

Access to the platform requires an active paid membership.

  • Memberships are billed monthly.

  • All memberships are subject to a minimum two-month term.

  • Memberships automatically renew unless cancelled.

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

No refunds are provided for partial months or unused membership periods.

4. No Guarantee of Shifts, Work, or Availability

Shift & Paws does not guarantee:

  • that shifts will be available at any given time or location

  • that posted shifts will be filled

  • that clinics will receive applications or expressions of interest

  • that professionals will obtain work or ongoing engagements

Shift availability and uptake depend on a range of factors, including user activity, location, timing, role type, and broader market demand.

Shift & Paws may display example shifts, illustrative listings, or sample content on its website or within the platform for demonstration purposes only. Such examples are provided to show how the platform operates and do not represent live, available, or guaranteed work opportunities.

Access to full shift details, availability, and booking functionality is limited to approved members only.

Membership fees are payable for access to the Shift & Paws platform and associated services and are not contingent on shift availability, placement outcomes, or earnings.

Nothing on the Shift & Paws website or platform constitutes an offer of employment, a guarantee of work, or an assurance of income.

5. No Refunds Based on Platform Outcomes

Membership fees are non-refundable, including (but not limited to) circumstances where:

  • no shifts are posted

  • no professionals apply for shifts

  • shifts are not filled

  • professionals do not secure work

Shift & Paws is not liable for outcomes arising from user interaction or lack of engagement on the platform.

6. Vetting & Approval

Shift & Paws undertakes a vetting process for both clinics and professionals prior to approving access to the platform.

Vetting:

  • is discretionary

  • does not constitute accreditation or endorsement

  • does not guarantee suitability, performance or conduct

Shift & Paws reserves the right to approve, suspend or decline any application at its discretion.

7. Rates, Payments & Engagement Terms

All matters relating to:

  • pay rates

  • invoicing

  • payment of wages or fees

  • tax, superannuation and insurance

are solely the responsibility of the clinic and the professional.

Shift & Paws does not:

  • set or enforce rates

  • process payments for shifts

  • handle payroll or invoicing

8. Workplace Health & Safety and WorkCover

Clinics are solely responsible for:

  • workplace health and safety

  • compliance with WHS legislation

  • providing a safe working environment

  • induction, supervision and support

  • WorkCover and workers’ compensation obligations

Professionals are responsible for ensuring they meet applicable legal, registration and insurance requirements relevant to their engagement.

Shift & Paws bears no responsibility or liability for:

  • workplace incidents

  • injuries

  • claims

  • WorkCover matters

  • WHS compliance

9. Professional Registration & Compliance

Professionals are responsible for maintaining:

  • appropriate qualifications

  • registrations

  • licences

  • professional indemnity insurance (where applicable)

Shift & Paws does not verify or guarantee ongoing compliance beyond information provided during onboarding although we may periodically re-request this information from users.

10. Use of the Platform

Users agree to:

  • provide accurate and truthful information

  • act professionally and respectfully

  • not misuse or attempt to circumvent the platform

  • not bypass the platform for engagements introduced via Shift & Paws

Shift & Paws may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shift & Paws excludes all liability for any loss, damage, injury, cost or claim arising from:

  • use of the platform

  • inability to access the platform

  • engagements between clinics and professionals

  • workplace incidents or disputes

12. Changes to These Terms

Shift & Paws may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
