What is Shift & Paws?
Shift & Paws is a membership-based platform connecting independent veterinary clinics with vetted veterinary professionals for short-term shift cover. We provide the platform – you connect directly.

Is Shift & Paws a recruitment agency?
No. Shift & Paws is not a recruitment agency, labour hire provider or employer. We do not place staff or negotiate on your behalf. We simply provide the platform for clinics and professionals to connect.

Who can use Shift & Paws?
Shift & Paws is designed for independent veterinary clinics and veterinary professionals, including:

We recognise the critical role all team members play in day-to-day clinic operations so offer a custom built platform where Clinics can fill gaps across all shifts within their Clinics.

Are clinics and professionals vetted?
Yes. All clinics and professionals are vetted before being approved on the platform. This helps maintain quality, professionalism and trust across the community.

How does vetting work?
We review submitted information as part of the onboarding process before granting access. Vetting does not constitute formal accreditation but helps ensure professional standards and platform integrity. Information required may include things like Veterinary registration or Nursing qualifications (if applicable). For interstate or International professionals vetting will include checking you are licenced to practice in the appropriate state. Vetting may also include questionnaires and/or colleague references if required. We try to take the 'recruitment load' away from owners so do the 'boring HR' stuff' behind the scenes so both users and Clinics on the platform are ready to just begin.
Is there a minimum membership term?
Yes. All memberships have a minimum two-month term. This helps support onboarding, vetting and platform quality.

What is the 2026 Launch Offer?
Shift & Paws is offering 20% off memberships to the first 26 approved clinics or veterinary professionals who join during our 2026 launch period.
This founding offer is designed to thank early adopters who help shape the platform as it grows. Once the founding cohort is filled, standard pricing will apply.
The discount applies for the first 6 months of membership.
The offer is available to new memberships only and is subject to approval.

Are there any placement fees or commissions?
No. Shift & Paws does not charge placement fees or commissions. You pay a simple monthly membership fee only.

How are membership payments processed?
All membership payments are processed securely through our website using Stripe, a leading global payments platform. Shift & Paws does not store your payment details.

Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payments are handled via Stripe’s secure, encrypted payment system. Your card details are never stored on the Shift & Paws platform.

When will I be billed?
Memberships are billed monthly from the date you sign up. Your subscription will automatically renew each month unless cancelled.

Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You can cancel your membership at any time through your account.
Please note:
All memberships have a minimum two-month term. If you cancel after this period, your access will continue until the end of your current billing cycle.

What happens after I cancel?
Once cancelled, your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged again after that.

Who handles payment for shifts?
Payment is arranged directly between the clinic and the professional. Shift & Paws does not process or manage shift payments.

Who is responsible for insurance, tax and superannuation?
All legal, tax, insurance, superannuation and employment obligations are strictly between the clinic and the professional. Shift & Paws is not a party to these arrangements.

Can clinics post urgent or last-minute shifts?
Yes. Clinics can mark shifts as urgent so professionals can easily identify priority cover needs.

Can professionals choose which shifts they apply for?
Yes. There is no obligation to accept any shifts. You choose when and where you work.

Do I have to accept ongoing work?
No. Shift & Paws is designed for flexibility. There are no ongoing commitments.

Can I work directly with a clinic after meeting them on Shift & Paws?
All engagements arising from introductions made through Shift & Paws must continue to be facilitated through the platform in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.

What locations does Shift & Paws cover?
Shift & Paws is built for independent veterinary clinics and professionals across Australia, with expansion planned. International or travelling professionals are encouraged to create a user account to access shifts from a variety of vetted and trusted Clinics in the Shift & Paws network.

How do I get started?
Simply choose the membership that suits you and complete the sign-up process. Once approved, you can start using the platform immediately.
